File Player
Use the File Player to play .wav or .mp3
files and to record the computer audio if you require. For most
people, there will never be a need to change the Output Mode. If
you are keen to use an ASIO driver, you can choose this setting
here. Also, if you experience any problems with your output drivers
or hear some disruption in your audio, you may find that changing
the output mode will help.
WaveOut - the default output used by Windows to connect to your
sound card
Wasapi - A newer output by Microsoft, which was intended to be the
next big thing but never became as popular as expected
Direct - Direct Sound Out, an alternative API to WaveOut
ASIO - a powerful, low-latency output, popular with sound engineers
and audio software programmers. This is not included within Windows
and requires an additional driver. The most common ASIO driver is
ASIO4ALL and can be downloaded for free at asio4all.org
The audio buffer size can be adjusted for WaveOut and
DirectSoundOut within the Harmonic Equalizer application in "File
Audio..." under "Settings". The ASIO buffer size can be set within
the driver (e.g. ASIO4ALL).
